Storytime!

It all starts with a story. It can be a classic-old or new, or a fable passed down through generations. A story told by a parent, grandparent, or a loved one. They are stories of great adventure, daring escapades, damsels in distress, fantastical creatures and unknown places. They were meant to calm us, scare us or lull us to sleep but they always found a way to sneak in a lesson that became a part of us into adulthood.

That is the idea of this summer theme exhibition. Start with the rocking chair made by Lyle Wheeler and move through the stories that were the inspiration for our artists’ amazing pieces. The 30+ artists in this exhibition had such a grand time creating this work. Some tried new techniques and styles. That was the best part of the theme, for the artists to have fun. That is also our goal for you, the viewer. Have fun. In these chaotic, crazy times, take a break from reality and let the show bring you back to that.

Once Upon a Time and hopefully, that feeling will stay with you!

 

**PLEASE NOTE. All items are for sale, but must remain for the duration of the exhibition at both Piedmont Craftsmen Gallery and then The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. The Mount Airy show runs through October 18, 2025. We'll be happy to make arrangements for pick-up or shipping after Oct 18th.
