The technical aspect of weave structure – how warp and weft yarns interact in a three dimensional space to produce a coherent cloth – has been my primary interest for more than 40 years. The addition of color to the structure mix enables me to develop a palette of tonal values to use at will in cloth. Over the years I have graduated from simple looms to dobby looms and now jacquard, and all of these tools have enabled me to use my palette in personal ways.
