Collection: Bill Hickman

Metal
Raleigh, NC | Exhibiting Since 1996
While working at Raleigh’s Ratskellar restaurant for eighteen years, he found time to follow his passion for making sculpture. He taught himself new welding and painting techniques and made objects that reflected his reality at the time. During this time he also amassed a collection of more than 100 books on art history and artist biographies. Picasso’s work is still a major influence.
Hickman was accepted as a member of Artspace, INC in 1989 where he rented a studio until 1991. He is currently a member of the American Craft Council, Piedmont Craftsmen and Carolina Designer Craftsmen.
Hickman continues making sculpture in his Five Points neighborhood backyard welding studio in the Raleigh.
