Clay
Newland, NC | Exhibiting Since 2013
The essence and spirit of the universe that exists in nature, is what I strive to create through the clay. If I can simply draw out an essence of truth, from deep within, from the void. I have succeeded. Details and realism allude or interfere in the truth.
May you, in the viewing, experience even a small portion of the profound wisdom and remembrances these sculptural forms provide me, in the making…and ultimately in the sharing.
It is through the ancient processes of coiling and pinching that these creatures come to life. Unintentionally, I have chosen the oldest forms of creating with clay, and the oldest form of sealing clay called terra sigilatta (literally meaning earth seal).
