Clay
Weaverville, NC | Provisional Artist 2026
My pottery is made from mid-range stoneware clay bodies. I use slab building and hand shaping techniques to create functional and decorative pots that are inspired by my interactions with the natural world. Occasionally, I incorporate wood and/or paper to add to the functionality of the piece, such as wooden table tops on ceramic tables or handmade paper for light diffusion. All of my glazes are mixed in my studio and I enjoy experimenting with glaze chemistry to achieve reduction-like qualities in cone 6 oxidation firings. I use wax resist and pouring techniques in the glazing process and intentionally leave portions of the clay body itself exposed to create visual and physical textures.
