Jewelry
Inman, SC | Provisional Artist 2026
My jewelry begins with sterling silver sheet and wire, which are cut to the desired size. The metal is often heated with a torch to make it malleable. Texture is created via hand tools (hammers, stamps, burs, etc.) or impressed onto the metal using various materials (man made or natural) and a rolling mill or a hydraulic press. Different files and sanding devices are used to finish the edges and joints. Bezels to hold the stones are created with sterling or fine silver and soldered together, then soldered onto the textured silver with a torch. (Purchased tube bezels may be used for small faceted stones.) The completed piece of jewelry is polished using assorted wheels and polishing compounds to create a high-polish, professional finish.
