“Playing the Path by Heart” is a play between knowing by instinct and learning a skill. The instinct is represented by the butterflies, as they migrate from one part of the world to another. The banjo player represents skill that has been acquired, whether by self or taught. Both mingle in waves of sound, beating wings and plucked string. Both create a vibration that harmonizes in a memory. These two traits build multiple paths that we hold within ourselves. They flutter out of rhythm and then fall in, all by heart.
